Our Story
WHY THIS EXISTS
A personal note from the founder on what QURAN is — and what it isn’t.
I grew up a practicing Muslim. Halal home, Qur’an classes as a kid, jumu’ah every Friday — the whole thing. I stayed religious even through university, which I consider somewhat rare for my generation.
And yet, it hit me the other day that despite all of this, I really know almost nothing about what’s actually in the Qur’an.
That realization stuck with me. If I — someone who did all the “right things” — still couldn’t tell you the story of Yusuf beyond him being thrown down a well, then other Muslims probably feel the same way.
I wasn’t going to relearn Arabic. I wasn’t going to spend hours studying tafsir verse by verse. I just wanted something beautiful I could pick up and read — and actually understand the stories that shaped us.
I think there’s a growing disconnect in the Muslim community, and part of it comes down to language. We get sent to Qur’an classes as kids, taught to recite before we can understand, and most of us never truly connect with what’s being said. The words stay foreign. The stories stay distant.
QURAN is my answer to that.
It’s not the Qur’an. It’s not a religious text. It’s a beautifully made book of some of the most important stories from the Qur’an — retold in plain English, paired with stunning imagery, and designed as an object you’d be proud to display in your home.
A format for the modern Muslim. Something you can read in an evening and walk away feeling more connected to the stories that shaped us.
On The Craft
Maybe it sits on your coffee table. Maybe it reconnects you — even just a little — to something you thought you’d left behind in Qur’an class.
That’s why this exists.
